Description

“On to Victory” is a new song from Professor Presley that was originally written during the Presidential campaign of 1840 which pitted the Whig Party candidate William Henry Harrison against the Democratic incumbent Marin Van Buren. The Election of 1840 was one of the most raucous campaigns in U.S. History and the Whigs successfully borrowed from the Jackson Democrat’s campaign playbook by nominating a War Hero and using campaign rallies and songs to invigorate the electorate. This song is one of the dozens of songs written to support Harrison and it is a great tool to introduce the study of the Second Party System of the United States. The name of the Whig party is repeated during lyrics of the song and will get your students wondering who were the Whigs and what did they stand for? Students love when music accompanies their lessons in History class and this song will have them tapping their toes and asking for you to play it again. The lyrics are included in the PREVIEW file in a word document.
This song was recorded at Earthling Studios in San Diego with guest vocals provided by Dylan Martinez from “STATIC HALO”. This song will add excitement and energy to the History Classroom, and all that for only a buck because History Rocks!
