    Description: In this lesson, children learn what it’s really like to preserve food through water bath canning! Children will be presented with multiple scenarios where they will have to use critical thinking skills to consider the information provided and make what they believe is the best choice in each situation. Situations your child will be presented with include: what food to can, where to gather the food, what tools are needed for canning and what jar size is appropriate for the food they are preserving. This is a great lesson for anyone who is interested in learning how to preserve their own food by water bath canning!

    Inspiration: “My children and I have been preserving our food for years, but I feel this is an important skill that is often overlooked. I created this lesson to help show children and their parents that water bath canning can be fun, and it is not as difficult as it looks!”


    Can YOU Hack it in a Tiny House?

    Description: In this lesson, children will learn about what a tiny house is and how it is different from a standard home. Children will also be presented with multiple scenarios where they will have to use critical thinking skills to consider the information provided and make what they believe is the best choice in each situation. Some situations your child will be presented with are: how to get clean drinking water, how to have power in their tiny house, what appliances can and can’t be used in an off-grid tiny house, and how to stay warm when temperatures drop to below freezing! This highly interactive lesson is sure to be an eye opener for those interested in off-grid, tiny house life!  Have fun engaging in several days of learning or choose a few activities for a short and sweet lesson if that’s the best fit for your family right now.

    Inspiration: “We live off-grid in a tiny house that my husband built, and I'm often asked, ‘What's it like to live in a tiny house?’ I created this lesson for children, and their parents, to understand what it's really like living in a tiny house! Enjoy!”


    Can YOU Raise Chickens from Egg to Eggs?

    Description: In this lesson children will learn what it’s really like to raise chickens from just hatched chicks to laying hens! Children will be presented with multiple scenarios where they will have to use critical thinking skills to consider the information provided and make what they believe is the best choice in each situation. Situations your child will be presented with are: how to start their flock, where to keep their chicks, what to do if a chicken dies, what to do for their chicken’s shelter, guess which foods chickens can and can’t have, what to use for a nesting box and what to do with all their eggs! This highly interactive lesson is sure to be an eye opener for those interested in raising their own chickens! Remember, you and your child may choose a few activities from this lesson or complete them all, whatever is the best for your family!

    Can YOU Survive an Unexpected Night in the Cold?

    Description: In this lesson children will be presented with different scenarios one may be faced with if they were in a survival situation. This lesson is meant to simulate what would happen if your family was out for a hike in the mountains but were unable to get home. Children will need to use critical thinking skills to access each situation and make the choice they think is best and they will discover if their choices lead them to safety or danger!

    Inspiration: “Learning survival skills is important for children and adults alike, but sometimes learning the skills may come across as less than exciting. That’s why I created this interactive lesson to put children into the situation to make learning fun!”
