What Is Science / Experimental Design SMART Notebook

This is a notebook that introduces students to what science is and what science can explain. It also teaches students the elements of experimental design including: independent and dependent variables, controls, constants, hypothesis, quantitative and qualitative data, and writing a conclusion statement. It guides students through creating a simple foldable and also flashcards to organize their experimental design terms. In the notebook the class will use a paper airplane contest to learn the elements of experimental design. Students will also be given a scenario in which they must design an experiment. I have also included focus questions at the beginning and middle of the presentation.
