Georgia's Westward Expansion Informational Essay Assignment
Integrate ELA into Social Studies (or viceversa) with this assignment. There is NO work for you to do except assign to Google Classroom (or another platform). Students will be given:
- thorough directions
- a template
- a grading rubic (adopted from the actual Milestones test!)
- an extention presentation project that you can assign.
It's all there!
It is all editable because it's Google Doc. Delete, change, keep whatever you want!
Big 20 Worksheet
If you're looking for Bell Ringer or "Do Now" as students come into class, you've found it! Allow students to work on standard SS8H4 standards independently or as partners through this worksheet.
- University of Georgia, state capitals, headright system, land lottery, Yazoo Land Fraud, cottin gin, railroads
This is a worksheet that students can use daily. There are 4 problems each day, totaling about 20 problems for the week (a few free spaces!).
I have mixed high and low Depth of Knowledge questions. Some of the tasks requires students to research and write, infer, recall, define, etc. There is a good mixture, and students don't mind completing them. Also, different modalities are considered; some task ask for students to draw, write, etc.
Other Ideas:
Use as homework or for students in suspension
Display Big20 on your SMARTboard to save copies
Attach as PDF in Google Classroom
Use as Test Prep
Use as Extra Credit
