Description

Now it is easier than ever to equip your students and families with a truly useful technology resource that will help keep skills sharp!! This is an awesome resource that includes QR Codes along with website URLs for students and families to use at home. The beauty of the QR codes is that QR codes make it so easy to connect to the desired websites and no typing of a lengthy and confusing URL is necessary. All the student has to do is scan the code and it takes them directly to the website - so easy!!

This resource can be copied front/back and sent home at the end of a school year for students to keep their skills sharp over the summer or at the beginning of a school year for students to use throughout the school year. There is also a parent letter included to send with complete step by step instructions for family use. If your school does a family literacy or family math night, this could be used as a session with complete hands on training for students and families - my school did this with our mobile laptop computer labs and the families loved it!! It is also a great resource for teachers who want to send home the latest technology resources for their students, but who might be uncomfortable putting it together due to lack of experience or expertise - the work is all done for you except the copying and distribution of the resource!

Technical information: This resource simply requires that the family have a QR code reader on their computer or device - there are many great QR code readers available free of charge; a Flash player is also needed (also readily available for free download if computer is not already equipped with one). When using this resource on a pc, they would also need to have a webcam to scan the code. This resource can be used on an android smart phone or tablet by following the instructions in the parent letter. It is more difficult to use on Apple devices because Apple devices do not allow you to change your default browser to a browser that supports Flash - it can be used easily on an Apple device that is jailbroken, but will require more effort if the device is not jailbroken.

Note: For some reason, my thumbnails put the parent letter in 2 columns, but on the word document, the parent letter is on the last page in true letter format and the 2 pages of QR codes and website descriptions are set up to be printed/copied either front/front (2 pieces of paper) or front/back (1 piece of paper); so, there are only QR codes on 2 pages, not 3 as the thumbnails show. Thanks!
