So far the WebQuest Practice Tests Include:

    1. The History of Schools: Students read an informational text about the history of public school in the U.S. and look through a photo-essay to see how schools around the world compare to ours.

    2. Winning Friends & Influencing People: Students read great advice about how to get along well with others, how to recognize bullying and cyberbullying, how to deal with bullying, and life hacks for giving and getting respect and forming healthy relationships. Essentially, it's all about winning friends and influencing people.

    3. Presidents' Advice for Students: Students read remarks from three past presidents they gave in their addresses to schoolchildren about the importance of education.

    4. Smart Homes in Utopia and Dystopia: Students read an article about smart homes of the future and also read a short science fiction story by Ray Bradbury about a smart home in the future (complete with dramatic irony about how the home is so alive).

    5. Home on the Range - Life in the 1800s: Students read several informational texts about the history and conditions of living on the frontier in the 1800s, plus they read narratives to give a perspective on how people viewed living "on the range," and they read/listen to the song "Home on the Range" for another perspective.

    6. The Wonders of Space - Out of this World: Students read informational texts about gravity and spacesuits, filled with great visuals and diagrams, watch a great short video about black holes, and read through a science experiment about making rockets.

    7. Perspectives on Sled Dog Racing: Students read several newspaper articles including a historical one, study a diagram, read an interview with Gary Paulsen, watch a video, and learn about 2 sides of this hotly debated issue (coming to a head.)

    8. Understanding Pandemics & Vaccination: Let's face it, we ALL need to learn more about this topic, but there is a lot to it! This WebTest combines history, ethics, science, technology, statistics/math, ELA skills, language, writing using 5 primary and secondary sources.

    9. Attitude Really IS Everything: Students delve into several sources exploring the concept of attitude and how it affects our paths in life. Engaging reading including a true story of a teenager who overcame tragedy, presidential advice, definitions, inspirational quotations, and more. Students will also write to integrate knowledge.

    10. That's Entertainment: An interview with Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, a look at Kermit the Frog, interesting information about the history and role of puppetry, and learning the single most overused plot structure used in sitcoms.

    11. Living Off the Grid: Students read 5 nonfiction articles, including real personal narratives, plus watch a short video about living off the grid, or off-grid homesteading.

    12. What is Energy? Students read energy basics, renewable vs. nonrenewable energy, how much energy & what type is produced and consumed in the U.S. (through graphs), how energy gets conducted, two science experiments conducting electricity, and an article about technology that harnesses the energy in our bodies.

    13. The Problem With Recycling: There is currently a problem with recycling in the United States, and in the world, but there are some possible solutions. Students read two argumentative essays, study infographics, and read a press release by the Department of Energy. So much relevant critical thinking to do!

Every month or so, I will be putting out a new WebQuest Practice Test (TM) that centers around a different theme. There will be a variety of themes that require examination of a multitude of sources that are scientific, technical, historical, related to social studies, and more. They will be a mix of primary and secondary sources. Also, there will be a mix of genres: informational text, literary nonfiction, literature of all types, and more. AND WHEN YOU BUY THE BUNDLE, YOU GET FREE WEBQUEST PRACTICE TESTS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR (through 2022).

The tests will provide great practice in ELA literacy skills all throughout the year and not just at crunch-time before spring testing. The test questions are aligned to all different standards based on the Common Core State Standards which have been adopted in most states, even though the standards are often called something different such as College and Career Ready Standards. They are the same skills students need to practice pretty much anywhere.

When you buy the bundle, you'll get WebQuest Practice Tests FREE for the rest of the year!
