We Didn't Start the Fire

I use this checklist for "We Didn't Start the Fire" as an introduction to the Cold War. I have students go through and check off events/people/etc. that they recognize while watching the music video for Billy Joel's song. I use the video that has images with each item on the list. I also have students write the year that one grandparent and one parent/guardian was born before starting. We then at the end of the song go back and look at everything their grandparents and parents have witnessed in life. I use this to talk about how these events are only 'history' to them while to adults in their life these events serve as memories.
