Waves Lab Electronic Notebook : ELN: Waves Unit

Electronic/Digital Lab Notebook in Google Sheets, Numbers and Excel. I created this to streamline the Lab Process. It can be paired with IoT sensors.

This Lab Notebook is divided up into a Dashboard, Pre-Lab Inquiries, Observations Log, Data Analysis, and Post-Lab Inquiries.

This meets the Scientific Process and Science Inquiry requirements. The Observation Log houses the unit's vocabulary with links to the definitions so students can reference itas they enter data. There is an automatic graph, Time Stamp, and duration generator along with notes when clicked in a cell that gives "Lab Hacks". These are reminders with directions. This can be edited fully to your liking. The graph can be changed to enter multiple variables against each other.

The "Materials" portion is set up to list the materials, along with their identifiers, a place to upload their image, select which variable they are etc...this helps students identify the reason for the material and reinforcing the elements of an experiment and the lab.

This is tested and students LOVE THIS LAB NOTEBOOK! At first, it can seem too much but it is so interactive and user-friendly it opens a new world for them. Yes, handwriting notes does make you remember them better, HOWEVER, a Lab Notebook is data-driven and it is imperative to be able to see and apply the scientific relationships as well as possible.
