Description

This PowerPoint introduces students to shodou (Japanese Calligraphy). While the overall objective is to learn some kanji and practice some calligraphy, students learn a whole lot more than that. They are taught how washi is made and get to make their own paper (you will need to make some deckles and prepare the equipment for this - it's super cheap and easy; instructions included). They take a brief look at how brushes are made and ink - all while learning Japanese. A great lesson if you run a Japan club at your school or want something fun to do at the end of the term.
