Description

“Vision boards” are a wonderful way to scaffold students’ dreams and plans for their futures; this activity stands alone in terms of the value the lesson as an end of year vision for the future after all of the hard work of learning with you, for a beginning of the year activity on goals and the importance of perseverance to achieve students´ visions of success, as a rainy day activity, sub plans for a day you’re out, a Career Day activator or extension activity….the merits of the “Vision Board” are limitless for we, as educators, are constantly emphasizing the importance of education as the key to success for each of our students—and, there is no better way of planting the truth of this seed of wisdom than allowing students’ themselves to create a visual representation of their hopes and dreams for their own lives. Included is your “criteria chart” check-list for the assignment, as well as the overarching Common Core ELA Standard. MAGAZINES, SCISSORS, GLUE, and OVERSIZED CONSTRUCTION PAPER are a MUST for this assignment to be a success!! (Our school librarian usually has an overstock of discarded magazines and I’m loathe to admit it, but I do borrow a bit of supplies from our two friendly art teachers for projects like this!:) Or, to be more environmentally friendly, I have included two easy to use and free online collage makers. Have fun and I know your students will, too; best, Rockermom
