Activity 1 ~ Nonfiction article (3 versions of article – challenging, regular, and scaffolded) can all be used to complete the same activity! Fill in text-evidence activity and either make craftivity or glue slides into interactive notebook.

Activity 2 ~ Use product from Activity 1 to complete this timeline. The timeline comes in two versions – one with more scaffolding.

Activity 3 ~ Analyzing Poetry (song lyrics) including a Poetry Terms Review; Analyze rhyme schemes, types of rhymes, poem structure, comprehension, figurative language, literary devices

Activity 4 ~ Determining the Theme – Watch a music video, find the theme, and identify text evidence that supports the theme.

Activity 5 ~ Close reading of a novel excerpt that will be used for the remaining activities. Analysis of indirect characterization requiring text evidence and inferences, including two different graphic organizers to choose from

Activity 6 ~ Using fiction novel excerpt above, students find imagery and complete graphic organizer; there are 2 to choose from

Activity 7 ~ With same fiction novel excerpt, students answer text-based essay questions using the ACE method; lesson on ACE method included along with 2 levels of scaffolding and answer keys
