What educators are saying

This resource was amazing! I loved that it had a little bit of this and that information covering several concepts that students were familiar with and they had fun completing it.
Bought conversation heart for this activity, Liked that students were able to practice subtraction, addition, graphic and fractions.

Description

In this single Candy Heart Math activity, your students will be counting, graphing, calculating area and perimeter, practicing number order, completing addition and subtraction, and creating fractions! WOW... all of that in a fun, engaging two-page activity! For a better look, just click on PREVIEW!

Since different brands of candy hearts contain different colors, I've also included an EDITABLE version of these pages. Simply open the file in Power Point, type the color words you need in the appropriate spaces and you'll be ready to go! Please Note: you will need Power Point to access the editable pages.

I hope your class has fun with this activity... my kiddos love it every year! And I love that they're engaged, having a BLAST and being CHALLENGED all at the same time!

Partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.
Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.
