Description

A frequency table represents the data from a tally chart or other data sources in numbers. Students use frequency tables when problem solving because it makes it easier to pull out the numbers being added or subtracted. Students must convert other forms of data to a frequency table, and be able to use the numbers to calculate.

How do we transfer other forms of data to a frequency table?

Each Cohesion Education video has been designed by teachers for parents! All videos include:

  • A Breakdown of the concept being taught
  • A How-To section in which the concept is modeled similar to the classroom
  • A Student Misconceptions section where we dispel some of those common problems students encounter
  • Next Steps for practical reinforcement of the concept either with a parent or teacher

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
