Description

Oh how our students love a good youtube video to work on making inferences, language and perspective-taking skills, especially one about animals! This video companion packet is based on a youtube video about atypical animal companions, a cat and ducklings. It contains activities that can be done individually or it works well with mixed groups. SLPs, special education teachers and ELA teachers will find it useful.

This product is both print and no print/teletherapy-compatible! You can use it in a teletherapy platform with digital annotation, if you like. It also contains a complete EASEL version for use on TPTs free digital platform. Most activities are tiered. A link to the video is included. Answer keys are provided for lengthier tasks.

Both the print and EASEL option contain the following activities:

  • information about and link to video,
  • check background knowledge, 2 pages, real photographs of animals,
  • Wh and how questions, 2 tiers and answer keys,
  • Making inferences about characters, 2 tiers and answer keys,
  • Reading comprehension "how do cats remember?" (main idea, supporting details, context clues), 2 tiers and answer keys,
  • Idiomatic expressions about motherhood, 2 tiers and answer keys,
  • Vocabulary and grammar (1 slide each of verbs, adjectives, prefixes, multiple meaning words and coordinating conjunctions),
  • Compare and contrast, 2 tiers,
  • Perspective taking, 4 pages, 2 tiers,
  • Point of view, 2 tiers,
  • Interpreting and expressing opinions about Youtube comments, 2 pages.

The EASEL version contains an additional activity where students drag and drop images of characters as they retell the story in the video.

ALSO included: a print or no print data collection form individualized for this packet. It can be printed or you can check boxes and type notes in the fillable text boxes in adobe. 7 pages.

You will need a zip extractor to open this file. Two pdfs and an EASEL version are included. This product is print and and no print. You choose how to use it based on your setting and client needs.
