What educators are saying

Thank you for this great resource it was extremely useful in my fourth grade classroom. Thanks for creating this.
Great resource to use as a tool for students while teaching measurement. My students use these on our math wall frequently. Thanks so much!

Description

This is a bundle of 18 posters depicting units of measurement in both customary and metric systems. Students are given a concrete reference to help them visualize and remember "about how much" each unit is. For example: A quarter is about an inch wide. Your fingernail is about a centimeter wide. Each poster has a colored illustration. Equivalents are also listed. Customary measurements depicted are 1 inch, 1 foot, 1 yard, 1 mile, 1 ounce, 1 pound, 1 cup, 1 pint, 1 quart, and 1 gallon. Metric measurements included are: centimeter, decimeter, meter, kilometer, liter, milliliter, gram, and kilogram. Posters are standard copy paper size, but can be enlarged. Printable student reference pages for math notebooks or journals are included.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for the two measurements; describe how the two measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen.
Estimate lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
