Description

Research Paper | Research | Research Papers

Research papers really fit the mold of an informational writing piece. This type of writing is prevalent in Common Core standards at the middle and high school grades, and it is easy to incorporate this type of writing into a history classroom. This product contains two version of the writing project - one has a traditional printed final draft while the other has online publishing of the final draft. This online option helps satisfy a Common Core standard relating to using technology to produce and publish writing.

Research is an important skill for students to develop. This project stresses research done both online and in books. Students learn how to verify and check their facts through multiple sources. Truly with this project it is the process that is the most important rather than the final product.

The research paper process is split up in to steps, and direct instruction occurs with each step. Students choose their topic from a list of choices; this student choice encourages motivation and investment. Students are very proud of their final drafts after the entire process is finished.

You'll receive:
A detailed lesson plan with rationale and instructions, student handout for replication, and a rubric to assist you in assessing student essays.
