What educators are saying

Wonderful and engaging activity! I only wish it was editable. We had to change some of the types of evidence to line up with what we have been teaching.

Description

Throughout the years, I've noticed my students struggling to identify STRONG evidence to support their claims during our argumentative writing unit. I started teaching them the different types of evidence and this helped them find evidence faster!

This station activity helps students learn about the different types of evidence and what strong evidence looks like. There are 6 different stations. At each station, students read three different pieces of evidence and decide which TYPE of evidence they are.

The different types of evidence included are STATISTICS/ FACTS, EXPERT INFORMATION, PERSONAL EXPERIENCE (anecdotal), and DEFINITIONS.

I've included an anchor chart at the end of this resource that defines each type of evidence and gives an example/ image. I printed these off for my students to keep in their notebooks for models of strong evidence. There is also an answer key included.
