Description

Triangle Vocabulary Cards and Word Wall

This is a set of 8 triangle vocabulary cards that you can use with your students when teaching math and geometry. I created them to look like trading cards and my students LOVE using them. I’ve also included an enlarged set of the cards that you can post in your classroom as a triangle bulletin board or word wall.

Product Languages:
English + Spanish (A Spanish Triangle version is now included for FREE)

Save $$ when you buy the Geometry Vocabulary Pack which includes these triangles trading cards and word wall plus three other geometry products!

This set includes:
• 8 triangle vocabulary cards with the word and picture on the front. The back has the definition and one or two characteristics about the triangle.
• The same 8 triangle cards with the words on them but blank spaces for students to draw their own picture and room to fill in the definition and characteristics on the back.
• 8 blank cards that students can use to add more triangle terms to as they come across them in their studies.
• A template for a labeled box that students can cut out, write their name on and color to store their triangle cards in.
• A list of ways you can use these triangle vocabulary cards with your students that is based on Robert Marzano’s “Six Steps to Better Vocabulary Instruction”. This list helps me because I can show parents, administrators, other teachers, etc. that I’m using research-based methods in my classroom.
• An enlarged set of the cards that you can post in your classroom as a triangle bulletin board or word wall
•Trading Card Manual: 15 pages of tips and ideas on how to use these trading cards in your class.
•Spanish Triangles set now included for FREE to use with Spanish speaking or bilingual students

I print these triangle cards out double sided on card stock so they look and feel like real trading cards but they work just as well on regular paper.

The 8 words included in this set of cards are:
• triangle
• angle
• isosceles
• scalene
• equilateral
• acute
• obtuse
• right

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
Understand that shapes in different categories (e.g., rhombuses, rectangles, and others) may share attributes (e.g., having four sides), and that the shared attributes can define a larger category (e.g., quadrilaterals). Recognize rhombuses, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals, and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
Draw points, lines, line segments, rays, angles (right, acute, obtuse), and perpendicular and parallel lines. Identify these in two-dimensional figures.
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.
Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.
