Description

This is a science experiment that we did in my special education classroom of 4th and 5th graders. We are working on the Scientific Method and how to complete an experiment completely.

Here is what we did What needs to be noted here was that I did not do this experiment in the classroom to learn about specific capillary actions. I used it to demonstrate a full experiment using the Scientific Method. I began by displaying the posters I have made (you can find them in my store) and talked about the steps. We then went through our entire steps in the Scientific Method

Listed Materials, Questions, and Predictions. I have included a sheet that has pre-made questions and predictions. Since I am an SDC Teacher, I provide scaffolding and options for those who need this support. They picked the option and wrote it down.
We then went through the procedures (setting it up) and wrote down our procedures.
We colored our starting data (coloring what it looked like at the beginning)
We set a timer for 15 minutes. When the alarm went off, they colored their observations. We did this throughout the entire day.
At the end, we looked at their Questions, Predictions, and observations. With that, we answered our follow up questions.

THIS WAS A HIT IN THE CLASSROOM! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did! The kids are loving our science experiments!

What is in this packet!
- Explanations about what we did in the classroom and what you could do as well!

Handouts to fill out materials, questions, predictions, procedures, data, and comprehension.
Different data sheets you can print and pick! We did 3 stations (mixing the primary colors to make three more secondary colors) That is data sheet 1! Data sheet 2 is two cups with water transferring into one cup with a border. Data sheet 3 is the same as data sheet 2, but without a border if your students are older or get distracted with a lot of things on the page!
