Trash Scenario Activity

In the beginning of the book Trash, by Andy Mulligan, two boys find something very valuable at a dumpsight. To replicate this scenario and engage students with novel, show them this slideshow that presents a similar situation in which they (the students) stumble upon an object of value. Put a description of the object in a sealed envelope and pass out to students. Then have students share out discussion style what they found and what they plan to do with their object.

This is a fun intro activity to Andy Mullligan's Trash. It has always been a hit in my classes!
