What educators are saying
This is a great addition to the resources I’ve compiled for teaching poetry. Easy to follow and integrate into my lesson. Students loved creating their fingerprints
Description
Art Meets Poetry!
(The lesson is aligned with Common Core ELA Writing Standard: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.W.10)
The Thumbprint Identity Poem Art Project uses a student-created poem to create a picture that resembles a thumbprint, aka Concrete Poetry.
This Art Project Lesson Pack includes 16 pages containing step by step directions on how to create the artwork, printable outlines, and a teacher directions page.
Additionally, there are discussion prompts based on a reference artwork (the Micrography genre), an Exit Ticket and an Art Project Rubric with two grading scale options.
This Poem Project could be used in the regular education classroom, or as a lesson in the Art Room. It's the whole package and includes everything you need for the lesson, except of course the physical materials:
Thin Line Markers
Inkpads or ink (or skip this step)
11x14 copy or printer paper
