This Is America Lesson Activities / Video Notes Questions with key

Hailed as a modern “masterpiece of symbolism” Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino’s This is America, released on May 6, 2018, has quickly become a pop culture phenomenon and social commentary on America. When asked by E! for an interpretation of “This is America”, Glover replied, "I just wanted to make a good song, something that people could play on Fourth of Julys."

I have attempted to create a (7- activity) lesson based on symbolism as expressed in this video. This lesson requires several viewings of the video. Please know these assignments are a mix of objective and subjective assignments and it will continue to evolve as I evaluate other interpretations and update when possible.
