You have to check out this Easter-Themed Writing Process Lesson!

What's Included:

  • Google Slides™ Writing Process Lesson for the teacher to display to the class
  • Google Slides™ Writing Process Student Packet Version 1 (This version goes along with the teacher slides as it has students come up with 2 ideas and 3 details like the slides.)
  • Google Slides™ Writing Process Student Packet Version 2 - students come up with 4 ideas and 2 details for the topic of your choosing
  • Google Slides™ Printable of the Lesson Introduction Matching Game
  • PDF of ALL printable pages (Student Packet Version 1, Student Packet Version 2, Intro Matching Game)
  • Teacher Info Page
  • Easel Activity of the Student Packets (Version 1 & 2)

Lesson Structure:

Introduction- Matching Game: round 1 is matching the step # of the writing process to the action and round 2 is matching the actions to the definitions.

  1. Print/Cut the Lesson Introduction Matching Game (however many you need)
  2. Using slides 2-17, students follow along and play both timed-rounds (can be in teams or individually)
  3. A 1-minute timer is included in slides for both rounds AND the correct answers are on the following slides after each round.

** GREAT for REVIEWING the steps and definitions of the writing process. You can even print and laminate these cards for continual student practice!

Guided Practice- you guide the students through writing by following each step of the writing process with your teacher lesson slides as students follow along writing with you in their own writing process packet.

  1. Give each student the Writing Process Student Packet VERSION 1 (there are two options for the drafting page you can pick from, or you can use both!)
  2. Guide students through completing the packet by working together using the teacher Google Slides™. You choose a topic to write about. (When writing on the slides, you can add text boxes, write on a smartboard, or write on a whiteboard that you are projecting the slides onto.)

** Can be used to guide students in their first time working through the writing process or as a review for more seasoned writers! **

Independent Practice- students work on one of the TWO VERSIONS of the writing process packets independently.

  1. After completing the guided writing lesson as a class, students can get a new packet to practice writing independently on a topic you or they select.
  2. Packets can be printed, assigned on Google Classroom, or assigned on Easel.

**Fantastic for independent writing practice, writing stations (students can complete a step per day), or an assignment given when class has a sub.
