Description

This resource bundle is a perfect companion to a class reading of The Underdogs by Mariano Azuela. This is a short but dense novel that takes place during the Mexican Revolution and raises many important questions about class, race, gender, war, life, and death.

This text has various translations and publishers, but the one that was used for these materials is the Penguin Classics version that has been translated by Sergio Waisman; it contains a foreword by Carlos Fuentes. It is possible to use these materials while teaching a different translation, but please note that there may be some inconsistencies and/or word differences in some of the questions and vocabulary words.
