Description

Project based learning is an important part of any classroom. The United States government needs your help! They need to create a comprehensive report indicating all U.S. regions and their geographical features. In this project based learning activities unit, student groups will follow a rubric to research geographical features within a U.S. region. It is each group’s job to research and present information about their region. Since facts are important, each group must complete each task, but may choose any reasonable way to research and present their findings. Students will break up into small groups, and choose a U.S. region to research. Students will create a driving question that will help them give true meaning to their project. Throughout the project, students will ask and answer questions related to their region and the standards. Students will follow steps of project based instruction and their rubrics as they research and present the research. Students will present the project to their peers, and reflect on their findings. The U.S. Geography project also includes a cookie cake formative assessment activity and a map activity. Included in this packet are GPS standards, a project rubric, project based instruction steps, individual region posters, U.S, Landform Cookie Cake/Map Formative Assessment Question sheet, and a driving question sheet. Enjoy!
