This Interactive Read Aloud Unit includes everything you need to teach an engaging and meaningful novel study of The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo. These reading comprehension activities are available in a printable and digital format, they are the perfect addition to your upper elementary reading workshop.
This Read Aloud unit is a great way to engage students in authentic reading learning! Students will practice key reading strategies such as analyzing characters, making inferences, understanding vocabulary, analyzing author’s craft, making connections, predicting, visualizing, determining theme, etc.
After reading the book, there are two extension activities! The first is a STEM project. Students will design a cage for the tiger. During the second extension activity, students will whittle a bar of soap, just like Rob whittles wood in the book. A rubric and self assessment are included for the extension activities!
The digital novel study can be used with Google Drive or Google Classroom. It is perfect for distance learning and going paperless!
