Description

Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41. Well, not really but who knows what actually happened in the Borden home on August 4, 1892.

This Common Core authentic writing task will challenge your students to answer that question. Students will research the case using a documentary and several internet resources to defend Lizzie's guilt or innocence. This product contains everything that you will need to engage your students in one of America's most infamous unsolved cases.

This file contains everything needed from research guides to teacher models to self/peer assessments and more.
