Description

This unit is designed to give students some facts about the animals, plants and people of the the rainforests. There are short text, activities and questions to provide practice for close reading and writing. There are activities and questions that focus on Using Text Features, Determining Word Meanings and Main Idea and Supporting Facts. An Opinion Writing Lesson and a Short Research project provide writing practice. The unit is designed to supplement regular reading and writing curriculum. It is focused on 2nd grade standards but would also provide good review for 3rd graders.

In this unit, you will get:

8 pages of Teacher Notes with lesson ideas
40 Student pages including:
13 pages of original non-fiction text
7 pages of activities and questions
9 page short research project
2 page opinion writing
9 pages art activities (good for bulletin boards)
