Description

After teaching The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave and The Declaration of Independence to my 11th grade ELs, I designed this exam to assess their knowledge of historical context and CCSS skills addresses throughout the unit (RI1, RI4, RI9, RI10, W1). The assessment also evaluates their ability to recognize vocabulary in context and effectively annotate a passage. Lower level ELs can also apply dictionary usage skills for this assessment.

There is a modified version for lower level ELs which limits the amount of written response required while addressing the same standards. This modified version begins on page 4 of the document.

The document contains and answer key for both versions.
