What educators are saying

This was the perfect addition to add to the end of our podcast unit with The Hallow during the Halloween season.
This was a great companion resource to go with our drama unit and storyworks. Thank you for creating this resource.

Description

This readers theater is a great addition to Halloween festivities for readers in the grades 3-5 levels. This is the classic legend of the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. I have taken care not to make the script engaging but not scary. My students really enjoyed becoming the characters and Ichabod really stole the show in my room. This readers theater allows students to work on fluency and expression as they read it aloud. The narrator part can be split into a few parts to accommodate the number of students you have to make sure everyone has some part to read. I personally broke the narrator into 6 parts. I also included a sequence of events and a comprehension assessment sheet to check student understanding of the drama. As I wrote the readers theater, I added stage directions to enhance the understanding and to help students to visualize the actions on the stage. I made sure to explain about the scene changes as well. My students loved this readers theater and I am so happy to share it with you!
