Description

Send your students back in time to 1774 by allowing them to perform this skit for the class or the entire school. Teachers will especially love the format of the activity, which encourages students to add content to the skit using factual information.

This skit writing activity is a fun and engaging way to bring creativity and history together for an experience your students will never forget.

"The First Continental Congress" drama begins with various colonial delegates (Peyton Randolph, Henry Middleton, Charles Thomson, and Patrick Henry) meeting at Carpenters' Hall to discuss what to do about the Intolerable Acts of Great Britain and King George III. Scene 2 opens with King George III receiving the colonists' petition. Students involved in the skit writing activity will be encouraged to imagine how they would discuss whether or not to allow the colonists to have a representative in British Parliament.
