Hexagonal Thinking is an analysis and facilitation tool that gets individuals, pairs, or groups to make connections between ideas, themes, terms, people, places, and just about anything else they can think of. It generally involves arranging hexagonal tiles together in a ‘web’ or mosaic. The only real rule is that for two hexagons to share a side they need to have some kind of connection — and similarly, if three tiles connect then each tile needs a connection with both of the other two.
Great for unpacking texts, finding out what students know before beginning a unit, reviewing a unit or course, and everything in between!
