You know that STEM activity going around where you have a certain amount of time to build a tower out of notecards? This activity takes the notecard tower activity to about level 44. At Portable Gifted and Talented, we love to build stuff, and we love playing around . . . but we always, always, always take STEM across the curriculum and to higher levels of critical thinking.
Shhhhh! Don’t tell the kids! This activity is higher order thinking, STEM, speaking and listening, metaphor creation and analysis, literacy, and creativity wrapped into what will seems like a game! Oh, yes . . . we are just that evil!
Because students will respond at a variety of ability and skill levels—this activity is appropriate for gifted and talented but also for a whole class enrichment.
