What educators are saying

This was a great beginning of the year identity activity! I just love how they choose something specific they love about themselves. Such a great way to affirm themselves and get to know one another!
This resource was an awesome introduction to teaching about autobiographies. It is part of the curriculum for my students to be able to write multi-paragraph writing and this resource opened the door to them writing multi-paragraph pieces on themselves.

Description

The Best Part of Me {A Positive Self-Image Project}:

The Best Part of Me writing project is such an amazing way to build confidence in your students. It encourages a positive self-image by having your students write about the best part of themselves.

This unit was created as a writing activity to go along with the book The Best Part of Me, written by Wendy Ewald, but it can still be completed without the book.

This file has been recently updated  to include digital files for Google Slides!

This is a zip-file which contains 3 files.

Here’s what you’ll get:

File #1:  The Best Part of Me - Lesson Plans and Printables

- Lesson Plans

- Idea Web

- Rough Draft / Outline

- Final Draft Page

- Photo Idea Page

- Student Recording Sheet

- Bulletin Board Header for "The Best Part of Me"

File #2:  Student Instruction Presentation

The second file includes a presentation with student instructions that you can project onto your white board or screen to walk students through the steps they will need to complete to do this project.  It also includes several student examples.

File #3:  Google Slides Access

The most recent third file is a PDF with clickable links to make your own copy of a digital file in Google Slides.  These can be used in Google Classroom, and you can make a copy for students to be able to type their own text.

Your students will have so much fun discovering the most special part about themselves.  Once the entire project is completed and they see the finished product on the wall, they will be SO proud!  This is a project that both parents and students love to keep as a special keepsake for years to come.

TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Maikou M. says, “My students were extremely engaged with the resources. The directions were easy to follow. I loved how organized and scaffolded it was for my little 1st graders to complete with minimal support. It turned out so cute and the parents loved it.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jennifer C. says, “Such a fabulous conversation starter with students as we began our new year together and worked on creating a growth mindset and setting goals. Parents loved it at Open House as well!”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Allison C. says, “My kids enjoyed writing about their favorite part of them! The graphic organizers helped them to put their thoughts together before they started the writing and made it really easy for me to check in with what they were going to write about before they did it. Additionally, it made it very simple for the students to type right into their document when it came time to write! I plan to use them for Open House because they came out so cute!”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Happy Elementary Teaching says, “Wow! This is an amazing project. We did this as a bulletin board project and we get so many compliments on it! It made the students feel good about themselves and it was a great confidence boost. Thank you!”
