Description
Looking to replace traditional book reports with a comprehensive language arts project? The BIG ELA Book Report Project FULL version combines reading, writing, speaking, and listening tasks that engage students and allow them to demonstrate what they know in a variety of ways.
- Reading: Students read books of their choice from approved genres. Then, they demonstrate comprehension and higher-level thinking by completing two response projects from the Not Your Grandma's Book Report Bundle.
- Writing: Students demonstrate comprehension by completing genre-specific book report outlines that require knowledge of the settings, characters, plots, problems, and solutions in the books. Students must also relate the books to themselves by answering opinion questions that require support from the books.
- Speaking: Students prepare and give 3-5 minute book talks to their classmates in which they share their knowledge of and opinions about the books that they read.
- Listening: Students demonstrate active listening skills by completing feedback forms for all of their classmates' book talks. Students write down details from each book talk and evaluate whether they would like to read the book in the future.
