Description

This worksheet helps students to understand and empathize with a perspective that they may not agree with by showing them how Malcolm came to see the world the way that he did. There is a section for students to write a theme or issue from Malcom's life/the novel, a section for students to describe Mr. X's opinion on that topic and then a place for students to list events, characters, etc that might have impacted Mr. X's perspective on the topic. Finally, students have the opportunity to create something that shows how Malcolm's perspective was changed, by himself or by others, on a topic of their choosing. This can be a creative reading comprehension assessment, a character analysis assignment, or even an exercise in critical thinking and the life skills of empathy and understanding.
