What are the 3 Great Spelling Rules?

  • 1+1+1 Doubling Rule (CVC Doubling Rule)- ex. tapping
  • Y-Rule for Spelling- ex. cried
  • Silent-e Rule for Spelling- ex. hoping

These three spelling rules are used frequently in the English language. Anytime a suffix is added to a word, you need these rules! The problem is that these rules can be REALLY tricky for students to master. In my experience, my students often need lots of practice. Why not practice with a simple & fun game?
