Description

This great 30 slide Power Point Activity is the perfect way to teach/review/practice measuring objects to the whole inch, half inch, or 1/4 inch using a ruler. It is designed to be used via virtual learning thru zoom or in the classroom in a projected smart board. It details the steps needed to take to accurately measure an object. Then provides a few examples. Finally it presents 20 different Thanksgiving themed objects for the students to measure.

You have the option to model this activity for your students by moving the clear ruler over the objects and having them determine the measurement for you, or share the file and have each student use the clear ruler as a manipulative to follow along for a more "hands on" approach with you being the model. It can be used as a game, fun activity, or ongoing practice across many grade levels. The objects are ready to be measured in various increments up to 1/4". However you have the ability to resize them to better suit learners learning to the 1/2" increment or even the whole inch increment. The 20 objects allow you to get reliable data and get a percentage correct for IEP goals.

We have not found simplistic examples of this valuable skill done in an easy to digest format, so we decided to create our own, and now we are sharing it with you. Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!!
