Overview and Purpose
Assess your student’s or child’s ability to make equal groups and find the number of groups using this quick two-problem exit slip.

Education Standards
2.OA.3.4 ~ Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.

3.OA.1.2 ~ Interpret whole-number quotients of whole numbers, e.g., interpret 56 ÷ 8 as the number of objects in each share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares, or as a number of shares when 56 objects are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each. For example, describe a context in which a number of shares or a number of groups can be expressed as 56 ÷ 8.

Activity
1. Teach or show your child how to make equal groups and find the number of groups.
e.g., There are 12 birthday cupcakes. Four cupcakes fit in one container. How many containers do you need to bring to school?

2. Have your student or child complete the exit slip.

3. Assess how well he or she did using the answer key (provided).
Common Error: If there are any missed questions your student or child may not understand how to find the number of groups, given the total and the number in each group.

4. Reteach: Have him or her correct any missed questions.
