Thank you. This has been very helpful this school year. I have the same students raising their hands to answer questions. I have been using your resource and tasking the class. It has really made a difference.

Description

Are you looking for a way to engage ALL your students? TASK don't ASK! Tasking is an effective teaching strategy you can use in your classroom in order to increase student engagement. When you simply ask your class a question, you're only engaging the handful of students who raise their hand. Instead, replace your question with a "task." When you do this, ALL students are accountable to complete the task.

An example of asking looks like:

"Who can tell me the 4 types of precipitation?"

An example of tasking looks like:

"Hold up your fingers for how many types of precipitation there are."

or

"Draw the 4 types of precipitation."

or even....

"Think of the 4 types of precipitation in your mind. Pencil up when you've got it!"

It can be difficult to think of different ways to task if you aren't already in the habit of it. That's why I've created this list of over 50 ways you can task your class!

Additionally, I've also added holiday variations so you can jazz up your tasking for holidays like Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and even the four seasons!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Alison A. said, "I have been using this resource to engage all of my students in the classroom. The engagement has gone up and I can see all students participating, not just waiting for another classmate to answer! I love the different ideas too so that I can switch up my tasks and not just rely on the same few I always use.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Stephanie C. said, "I love to use it when planning my lessons. I like to type the idea I want to use right into my lesson plan so I remember to use the strategy with my class. It helps the students participate and pay more attention.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Monica V.. said, “Such a simple but powerful resource. I find my students often get bored of the same way of demonstrating their knowledge. This is a great list to keep handy to remember to provide variety in how students can answer and demonstrate comprehension.”
