Description

This resource is a year's worth of summative assessments to evaluate progress towards the Third Grade Common Core Standards for Operations & Algebraic Thinking, Numbers & Operations in Base Ten, Numbers & Operations - Fractions, Measurement & Data, and Geometry.

THIS PRODUCT INCLUDES:
4 summative assessments (one for each quarter) that evaluate progress towards ALL of the Third Grade CCSS:
--- 3.OA.A: Represent and solve problems involving multiplication and division
--- 3.OA.B: Understand properties of multiplication and the relationship between multiplication and division.
--- 3.OA.C: Multiply and divide within 100.
--- 3.OA.D: Solve problems involving the four operations, and identify and explain patterns in arithmetic.

--- 3.NBT.A:Use place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic.

--- 3.NF.A: Develop understanding of fractions as numbers.

--- 3.MD.A: Solve problems involving measurement and estimation.
--- 3.MD.B: Represent and interpret data.
--- 3.MD.C: Geometric measurement: understand concepts of area and relate area to multiplication and to addition.
--- 3.MD.D: Geometric measurement: recognize perimeter.

--- 3.G.A: Reason with shapes and their attributes.

HOW I USE THIS PRODUCT IN MY CLASSROOM: I use this product at the end of the quarter to help me determine a final grade. I use these assessments in conjunction with my Mighty Math weekly formative assessments.

About a week before the end of the grading period, I take 2-3 days for my students to complete summative assessments on all the CCSS. Each assessment includes an "I Can" statement in kid-friendly language, so your students know the expectation for the assessment.

If your school uses trimesters rather than quarters, I recommend using assessments 1, 3, and 4.

NOTE FOR PRINTING: The measurement assessments were created with great attention to accuracy. To keep the measurements exact, it is recommended to print “as is.” If you choose the “fit to page” option, everything will be a little bit smaller.

This is a zipped (compressed) file, so you will need to extract the files from the folder in order to access each product.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
A square with side length 1 unit, called “a unit square,” is said to have “one square unit” of area, and can be used to measure area.
