Description

While in exile, Johnny & Ponyboy have a moment that includes the legendary Robert Frost poem, "Nothing Gold Can Stay." Learners will take a pause from the reading to read and study this poem, its meaning, and how it connects to our novel.

SUGGESTED ACTIVITY IMPLEMENTATION

Students will study Robert Frost’s poem, the one Johnny quotes to Ponyboy. They will go line by line and analyze the meaning of the lines and what significance they might have to the overall meaning of the novel.

WHAT OTHER TEACHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS LITERATURE RESOURCE

♥ Great rigor! I loved the quick writes and all the other concepts.

♥ I've used this with both my 7th and 8th graders. They have absolutely loved it! Some of my reluctant readers even commented on how they can pass the quizzes. A fantastic unit that I have recommended to other teachers at my school.

♥ I am currently using this with my 8th grade students and it has been a lifesaver! I love the nonfiction documents and the vocabulary activity best. The vocabulary activity requires students to use context clues which is fantastic.

♥ This is great! I like that each activity is separate because I could rearrange them in the order the worked best for me. The activities are really fun, and I love the fact that some grammar is included! SUPER! :D

♥ I was so excited to see this because I loved, loved, loved using your unit for The Giver. The resources are of the same high quality, that are ready to use in the classroom the next day.

♥ My students loved the vocabulary and slang terms activity! They had so much fun! Thanks!
