    ❤ 1- SHORT FILM WORKSHOP- SALT:

    Short Film Synopsis: A young boy makes a lovely pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner, but accidentally uses salt instead of sugar.

    THEME: A beautiful theme of kindness emerges as his family and dinner guests spare his feelings and eat the pie, pretending to enjoy every bite.

    Culminating Writing Activity:

    Students learn 5 text structures and an easy plot summary. Each text structure has a writing prompt. Students can choose which the prompt for which they would like to respond. Or, you can choose the prompt(s) you would like to assign.

    Prompts are highly engaging and relate to Thanksgiving.

    Text Structure and Prompt Topics:

    Problem and solution: Pardoning A Turkey?

    Sequence: Make a Thanksgiving Recipe

    Description: Describe a favorite holiday memory or tell a story

    Compare/Contrast: Favorite and least favorite Thanksgiving dish

    Cause and effect: Relate something you are grateful for and describe the effect it has had on you

    Plot Summary: Students use the 5 easy questions to create a plot summary
