Whether you follow the Teachers College Reading Workshop model or not, these slides will help you complete an in-depth, narrative reading unit. The mentor text used throughout the slides is The Tiger Rising so there are several references to that text.
Included are extremely visual and in depth slides that can be used as your lesson plan immediately. Some concepts addressed include:
-collaborative group discourse
-variety of teaching points centering around reading skills and character analysis
-figurative language
-symbolism
-group roles
-turn and talk prompts
-higher order thinking questions
-share
-independent work
-test taking skills
You will see that these slides are extremely detailed. Some may be specific to my own classroom and will need to be edited, but there is so much for you to use. Some charts and materials are specific to Teacher's College and there are places where I left blank to insert pictures of your own anchor charts.
