Susan B. Anthony Minibook for ELL Students

Minibooks are designed to give ELL students an introduction to content information through comprehensible books. Minibooks are also excellent resources for reading practice while engaging with content and learning new vocabulary. Minibooks can be used as pre-learning before a content class or used as stand-alone reading practice. Higher-level vocabulary words are bolded and a glossary is provided.

In addition to the minibooks, a question sheet is provided for additional work. These question sheets allow students to learn to find information in books. The page numbers are provided to avoid frustration but, at the same time, give practice looking for specific information. This activity is also appropriate for regular-classroom use with emergent readers (non-ELLs).
