Summer Crossword, Summer Word Search, End of Year Puzzles, Activities – Harder

A super set of 5 black and white NO PREP differentiated summer puzzles (4 word puzzles and a maze) - lots of fun for a summer project or end of year activities. Includes crossword, word search, codeword, acrostic scramble, and starfish maze. All the word puzzles are provided in two versions to allow differentiation in the classroom and answer keys are included. Easy to use – just print and go. Handy for fast finishers or substitute lessons. Over 100 seasonal words are used across the four summer word puzzles.

If you feel that these puzzles are too difficult for your class, you may prefer the standard version Summer Crossword, Word Search and End of Year Puzzles, which has easier versions of the puzzles and a smaller vocabulary. The two sets can be bought together as a Bundle at a 20% discount. For younger children there are also puzzle sets using picture clues – Summer Puzzles and Summer Puzzles (Harder).

Pack contents

1. Crossword – includes an easier version with the first letter of each word already in the grid

2. Word search – using 40 summer words. In Version 1, words can be written forwards and backwards, across and down the page, but not diagonally. In Version 2, words may also be found diagonally.

3. Codeword – this puzzle is like a crossword but without any clues. Instead, every letter of the alphabet has been substituted for a number from 1 to 26. All 26 letters are used. In the easier version, half the letters of the alphabet are already given at the start, whilst the harder version has only six. With those letters filled in throughout the puzzle, it is possible to guess words and discover more letters. There is also a copy of the alphabet so that letters can be crossed off when they have been identified. When the code has been cracked, the phrase at the bottom of the page can be completed.

4. Acrostic scramble – an acrostic and word scramble all in one puzzle. Clues are given as word scrambles which when solved and filled in across the page, reveal a hidden beach activity written downwards. An easier version is provided with the first letter of each word already written in the grid.

5. Starfish maze – help Hermit Crab find the way to the rockpool through a starfish-shaped maze.
