Description

Let me summarize this for you ☺ - this no prep digital and printable product will help your students summarize nonfiction texts using the SWBST strategy! These ENGAGING nonfiction texts are simple and a great introduction to summary skills for your 4th, 5th, and 6th graders! Use these passages for a daily activity that can extend into 2 weeks with 15 pages included.

This product was created as a scaffolded intervention for my students struggling with writing nonfiction summaries, but had mastered writing fiction summaries with the SWBST strategy. The SWBST strategy can be used with nonfiction text when the text is biography or people based. This product can be a great beginning step for your students struggling with nonfiction summaries and allow them to see some success. In my classroom, we would start with SWBST nonfiction practice and then move into nonfiction summaries that would need to be analyzed with a different framework.
