What educators are saying

Great way to introduce 8th grade AVID students to mandalas. This really captured and kept their attention. Thoroughly enjoyed what the students produced.
My students really enjoyed this project. They were so creative. I learned a lot about them and I think they learned a lot about themselves as well.

Description

This no-prep, fun and engaging Mandala Project will have AVID students creating an artistic mandala and writing an essay about themselves. Students in the AVID elective will practice introspection and writing skills. This is a great AVID project for any grade level, or any college and career readiness class. The whole project took at least a couple weeks, with the creating of the mandalas, sharing them, writing the essays, proofreading, typing, etc.

My AVID students loved this assignment, and were ready to share their final mandalas and essays with the class. This Mandala Project could also be used in ANY middle or high school classroom setting: Language Arts, Study Skills, Leadership, etc.
