Introduction: The Structure of a Poem

Stanza Structure

Line Structure

Rhythm & Meter
INFORMATIVE HANDOUT: The notes on this page guide students through the process of understanding syllables, syllable stress, foot, and meter. It also explains the names of different types of feet and meter.
PRACTICE WORKSHEET & ANSWER KEY: Students are required to identify stressed and unstressed syllables in single words, and then they have to identify and name the meters of actual lines of poetry.
