Description

Do your students enjoy reading scripts? Could they benefit from practice activities where they identify the story elements featured in a story? This set of five partner plays is perfect for students who would benefit from targeted activities that work toward building reading fluency and identifying characters, setting, problem, and resolution within a story.

These scripts require minimal teacher support, thereby allowing teachers to work with other small groups. For teachers who implement reading centers, these plays are perfect. These scripts are also ideal for parents who are looking for fun at-home reading activities that parents and children can read together. If you have a child who is reluctant to read at home, I encourage you to give these scripts a try!

These five partner plays are intended to be used as fluency-building activities that students can read with a partner. It comes with a BONUS story elements worksheet. After reading each script, students identify the characters, settings, problem, and resolution in the script by answering the questions on the worksheet. In most of the scripts, students must identify multiple settings. They must also differentiate between main characters and minor characters.

This resource is available in multiple formats. Each teacher gets to choose the format that best meets his/her students' needs. You will choose between the printable partner plays and the paperless version that uses Google Slides. If you choose the printable option, you will have access to versions with color clip art and blackline clip art. Each script is exactly two pages, making it easy to print them back-to-back on a single page.

This set includes these five independent scripts:

  • A Pie Problem
  • A Gift for Grandma
  • Cora's Visit
  • Where Is That Paper?
  • Lucia's Flat Tire
